  • Karan Oberhansley, Veterinarian


    Dr. Karan Oberhansley has owned and operated Whitehouse Veterinary Hospital since its establishment in 1985.  She graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary medicine in 1979. Following graduation, Dr. Oberhansley pursued advanced training and completed an internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at Michigan State University.  To further specialize her skills, Dr. Oberhansley was a surgical resident at Cornell University.
    Dr. Oberhansley is especially devoted to helping area shelters provide sound medical care and has offered reduced fee services to rescued animals for many years. She was instrumental in establishing pediatric spay/neuter programs in shelters. She has provided free spay/neuter services to hundreds of animals on native american reservations in New Mexico since 2008. She was awarded "The Star of Recognition" by St. Hubert's in 2010 for her exceptional professional contributions, support and guidance. She has been acknowledged by numerous newspapers as well as radio and television reporters for her volunteerism.
    Dr. Karan and her husband Dr. Dean Newton, former medical director of AnimERge, have a small farm and a family of dogs, cats, many birds and sheep. They have four children.  Their son ,Dr. Brett Newton, works along side of his mother, Dr. Karan, to round out the team of Veterinarians who proudly service their community.

  • Dr. Nicholas Sakitis

    Dr. Nicholas Sakitis grew up in Piscataway, NJ and was a graduate of Immaculata High School in Somerville before earing his Pre-Veterinary and Animal Biosciences Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Delaware.  He then went on to Kansas State University where he earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree.  In addition to his academic journey, Dr. Nick completed an externship at Whitehouse Veterinary Hospital from 2020 to 2021.

    Dr. Nick has always enjoyed stimulating activities that require finesse, physicality, and intelligence in order to succeed.  To that end, down time is often spent engaged in playing the drums, swimming, being out on a tennis court, or challenging his skills as a video gamer.  When in complete relaxation mode, he takes pleasure in travelling, attending Broadway shows, going to the beach and spending time with family and friends.

    Dr. Nick is dedicated in caring for all animals.  He has a particular affiliation for rabbit medicine and surgery, with breed shout-outs that include Mini Rexes, Lion Heads, and Flemish Giants.  Relative to veterinary medicine, Dr. Nick believes in always being there to ease a patient's pain and commits to devoting on-going professional development to constant improvement by expanding his knowledge and perfecting his skills.

  • Jennifer Stroka, Technician Staff

    Jennifer Dembeski Stroka grew up in Whitehouse Station and was always active in 4-H. She is the go to person for questions about rabbit, fowl and pocket pet husbandry. Jen has worked at Whitehouse Veterinary Hospital since 1994.
    Jen is an excellent technician. She has been responsible for several clinical trials that we have participated in to help bring new therapeutic drugs to the market to benefit our pets.
    Jen and her husband Rob have a fantastic daughter, Hannah, and a menagerie of dogs, cats, chickens, geese and ducks. She loves her animals and her patients!

  • Corine, Reception Staff

    Corine has been working at Whitehouse Veterinary Hospital since 2020. She grew up in Montgomery, NJ riding horses and graduated from Centenary College with a degree in Equine Science. She has two dogs, a sweet little Morkie named “Oliver”, and a goofy French Bulldog lovingly referred to as “Molly Moo Cow”. Corine also owns a handsome horse named Kevin.

  • Shayla Hockin, Technician Staff

    Shayla joined the Whitehouse Veterinary Family in 2020.  She was raised around animals and is an avid animal lover.  She began her career as a kennel assistant in a boarding facility at the age of 15, she knew from that point on that her true passion and ultimate goal was to become a certified veterinary technician.  She is currently in the process of achieving her degree and certification while working as part of our technical team here at WHV.  Shayla has a rescue dog, Ellie, and two foster failure cats, Tater and Lil Momma, at home.  In her free time she enjoys pet sitting, reading, and spending time at the beach with her family and boyfriend.

  • Sharon Burgess, CVT, Technician Staff

    Sharon became a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) in 2006 and is also a graduate of  an American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) accredited program in 2007.  While Sharon has worked many different facets of veterinary medicine she has a special interest in veterinary dentistry and exotic medicine. She is married and has two beautiful children, three cats, 2 ferrets, fish, and a spoiled little ShihTzu, Mishe! Sharon enjoys gardening, cooking, and hunting.

    Claudine grew up in Whitehouse Station and raised in the veterinary industry. Her mom is a veterinarian  turned attorney and her “aunt” is Dr. Karan! She is a dachshund and horse lover. She attended the University of Pittsburgh and studied Biology and French while minoring in Chemistry and Spanish. She is currently working at Whitehouse vet to lend a hand during these crazy times and show some extra lovin’ to your pets. She plans on moving on to the pharmaceutical sales industry in the future.

    Angelena grew up in Washington, NJ on Piney Hill Farms.  From a young age her passion was always for animals.  She has been part of the Whitehouse Veterinary Family since 2021.  Angelena's future plan is to attend an accredited school to obtain her Certified Veterinary Technician  license (CVT) and then to pursue her career further in the veterinary field.  She is a lover of all dogs but especially her three spoiled boxers, Bo, Duke, and Remy.  She also is the proud pet mom of  two pet rats, Mocha and Chip!

    CarolLynn had worked at Whitehouse Veterinary Hospital since 2002.  She and her husband Ed have two beautiful children and "Belle" a rescue dog. Everyone is grateful to have CarolLynn at the desk, her friendly smile, and competent skills.

  • Julie Landry, Reception Staff

    Julie Landry has been a veterinary technician at Whitehouse Veterinary Hospital since 1997. Julie is the most kind, loving and lovely technician, the animals trust her unconditionally. She is extremely competent in surgical assistance, anesthesia monitoring, venipuncture and catheter placement. Recently she has been acting as a receptionist at the desk.
    Julie and her husband Jim, a teacher, have 3 children and several pets. She is a pleasure to work with and is loved by staff, clients and pets alike. We wish we could clone her!

  • Dr. Dominck Gentile (deceased)

    Dr. Dominick Steven Gentile began his career at Whitehouse Veterinary Hospital as a technician in 2014 prior to pursuing his veterinary degree.  He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Rutgers University in 2016 and went on to attend Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine.  During his fourth year in veterinary school, he was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare type of cancerous tumor that grows in your bones.  Despite many challenges, Dominic graduated Summa Cum Laude from Iowa State in 2021 with a doctorate in veterinary medicine.  Upon graduating, he came back to Whitehouse Veterinary Hospital so he could continue his career as a DVM.  

    Dr. Dom passed away at the age of 28 on October 29, 2021, at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, PA.  He was an amazing person who was admired and loved by everyone who had the privilege to meet him.  

    Dr. Dominick Gentile will always be part of Whitehouse Veterinary Hospital.
